Bi-State Traditional Ecological Knowledge Summit Understanding Ecological Knowledge: Past, Present and Future July 14-15 Virtual Meeting & July 16 Field Visit
The TEK Summit was a three day meeting comprised of two days of virtual presentations followed by a tribally-led field visit. The event is dedicated to the ideal of how to best incorporate Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into the adaptive management of ecosystems in the Bi-State area of western Nevada and eastern California. Targeted audience is tribal leaders, tribal members, and agency resource professionals and managers interested in management practices for sagebrush and pinyon-juniper ecosystems within the range of the Bi-State distinct population segment of greater sage-grouse. Additional topics covered will include cultural burning, elder and youth perspectives on the future, and successful tribal agency partnerships.
